This position is intended for a skilled technician who can accurately diagnose equipment, complete repairs efficiently, and properly document all work performed.
Primary Responsibilities
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, cooling, and starting-system problems
Repair gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment
Service compact tractors, zero-turn mowers, utility vehicles, small engines, and farm implements
Perform engine repairs, tune-ups, carburetor repairs, fuel-system repairs, and electrical troubleshooting
Diagnose and repair hydraulic leaks, cylinders, hoses, pumps, valves, and steering systems
Replace belts, bearings, pulleys, spindles, clutches, switches, wiring, seals, and other components
Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, fluid checks, and adjustments
Use service manuals, wiring diagrams, diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer technical information
Inspect equipment before and after repairs
Test-run or operate equipment to confirm repairs have been completed correctly
Write clear and detailed repair notes, including the diagnosis, parts replaced, work performed, and final testing
Take required pictures of equipment, serial numbers, hour meters, damaged components, and completed repairs
Communicate additional repair needs to the service manager before performing unauthorized work
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Properly tag removed parts and return unused parts
Follow shop safety procedures and manufacturer repair standards
Experience and Qualifications
Previous professional experience repairing small engines, tractors, mowers, farm equipment, or outdoor power equipment
Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostic skills
Experience with gasoline and diesel engines preferred
Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, parts diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
Ability to use multimeters, compression testers, fuel-pressure testers, battery testers, scan tools, and common shop equipment
Ability to provide accurate and complete repair documentation
Must have basic hand tools
Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to safely lift parts, tires, batteries, and components associated with equipment repair
Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
Manufacturer certifications are a plus but are not required

We are looking for a technician who takes pride in diagnosing equipment correctly instead of simply replacing parts. The ideal candidate understands the importance of checking the complete machine, documenting repairs, communicating with the service department, and verifying that the equipment operates properly before it is returned to the customer.
