Overview
We are a locally owned hospitality group operating several businesses in Charlottesville seeking a dependable, experienced handyman for ongoing maintenance support.
This role is ideal for someone recently retired or semi-retired who enjoys staying active, takes pride in their work, and is looking for steady, low-stress, part-time income in an interesting work environment.
What the Role Looks Like
10–20 hours per week, flexible schedule
Regular weekly maintenance visits across locations (all in downtown Charlottesville)
Occasional on-call help for urgent issues (not frequent)
Independent work with clear priorities—no micromanagement
Responsibilities
General repairs and upkeep:
Light electrical (fixtures, outlets, switches)
Basic plumbing (leaks, clogs, fixture swaps)
Carpentry (doors, hardware, minor repairs)
Troubleshooting small issues before they become bigger ones
Painting
Help keep our spaces clean, safe, and running smoothly
Communicate clearly with management on what’s needed
What We’re Looking For
Someone reliable and consistent
Comfortable working independently and solving problems
Prior experience in maintenance, facilities, or skilled trades
Takes pride in doing things the right way
Has their own basic tools
Reliable transportation between locations
VERY IMPORTANT: Someone who knows when they are out of their depth and can work with management to help solve the problem with a specialist when appropriate. We do not want to spin wheels and create larger issues.
Compensation
Negotiable, depending on experience
