About us:
Heartmoor Design Build is a Class A bonded and insured contracting firm specializing in residential building, remodeling, salvage, and historic restoration. We are a division of Heartmoor Farm Education Centre where our principal teaches classes in woodworking and construction technology. Classes are held in a traditional timber frame building constructed in 2014 by a crew of professionals and community volunteers.
The design build division has experience in a wide range of residential work, including additions, kitchen & bath remodels, tiny houses, full remodels, and ground-up builds.
We are committed to building sustainably, for longevity, with intention, and consideration for limited resources. We work with regional salvage operations in Richmond and Roanoke, save lumber and use reclaimed materials whenever possible.
About you: The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in various aspects of carpentry, home building, and remodeling. As part of a small team, you'll perform duties including framing, trim, selective repairs on contemporary and historical structures, sheetrock, cabinetry, and limited painting. You are able to work collaboratively and independently to solve problems and complete work. You enjoy learning and teaching where appropriate. Professional interactions with clients and ability to communicate effectively with our diverse team is a must. A personal set of basic tools and reliable transportation are required.
This job is full time, M-F, typically 8-4.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
Proficient in Carpentry techniques and practices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong understanding of safety protocols and practices
Effective teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina and dexterity for demanding tasks
Prior experience in residential or commercial construction is a must
