Hello, I'm a mechanical engineer who takes on small welding jobs in addition to my own hobby/farm projects.
MIG/GMAW, stick/SMAW, TIG/GTAW, and flux core/FCAW capability, primarily in steel but with capabilities in aluminum and stainless steel. I have some experience welding cast iron also. I prefer small jobs that I can work on at my shop at my leisure, but I can also come to you with a small portable welder and generator if necessary.
Plasma cutting up to 1/4" thickness in steel with 5/8" severing capability, manual not CNC. Typically for demolition / disassembly work, but with proper setup effort I can produce finish-quality cuts that need minimal grinding. I'm able to subcontract CNC lasercutting, waterjet cutting, or plasma cutting if the project requires it.
*NEW* I now have the ability to cast metals into simple molds-- with aluminum, brass, copper, or bronze. I can sandcast or for more precise/higher volume castings I can prepare a milled steel mold.
I have moderate machining and metalworking capabilities as well, if you need metal shaped or machined as well as welded, and I have the ability to subcontract full machine shop services as needed. Additionally, I know other local welders and metalworkers I can pass your work off to if I'm busy or if it's not a good fit for my capabilities. Doesn't hurt to reach out-- if nothing else, you might get some free advice on your project.
I do NOT have any welding certifications! I've been welding for about fifteen years and I'm always striving to improve. Please look at the welds in the photos and decide whether that's sufficient quality for what you need welded.
RATES- I charge a flat equipment fee of $20 and then $40 per hour, rounding up. Travel fees may also apply depending on location.
I'm happy to work with you to make your project as affordable as possible-- mostly this means showing you how to do the prep work, so that all you pay me to do is the actual welding.
Calls/texts/emails are all ok, but texts will get you the fastest response. If possible, please send me a photo of the job you need done. (Sending photos will save both of us a lot of communication time.)
Thanks- looking forward to hearing from you! Let's melt some metal!
