Fully professional level sitar made in India by Rajesh Sharma of Mohan Lal Sharma.
This sitar features aged mahogany and traditional design and inlay. Natural bridge and fittings with offset sympathetics. 48 1/2 inches long with just under a 14 inch tabli, (which is the sitar "soundboard," akin to the top an acoustic guitar but no soundhole). Closed jawari, (which indicates it has a nice "tight" sound), with responsive balanced sympathetics.
Set up for 6 main strings and 12 sympathetics as was used by Ravi Shankar. This one is currently set up with 5 main strings, as was used by the great Vilayat Khan, which was the way I liked to play it when I played.
The sitar is in mint condition, very well cared for and case kept. Fully set up by Lars Jacobsen at Rain City Music when it arrived in the States. I'm selling it because I haven't used it in years.
Includes fiberglass case for the sitar, string puller for changing the strings, railroad chalk for the pegs, and a mizrab (sitar pick).
Cash only. Pick up in Culpeper, (or could meet in Ruckersville).
