This 1970 P1800E just came out of a three-year Extensive Restoration completed in November 2021. This P1800E Coupe is powered by a fuel – injected 2.0 – liter inline four mated to a four- speed manual transmission with a Laycock overdrive unit. The 2.0-liter B20 engine features the Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated with 130 horsepower with 130 lb-ft of torque when new. The finish is a stunning Red (46) original color with an interior in black leather and silver-gray carpet just like the day it left the factory. Attention to detail was a top priority throughout the restoration.
The interior with new leather upholstery both front bucket seats and headrests w/ new Pirelli webbing to all seat bottom frames (front and rear seats), a custom leather wrapped steering wheel, new dash overlays top and bottom, and OEM Swedish Carpet set in Silver Gray with updated sound reduction padding. The trunk received an OEM factory rubber carpet and proper trim upholstery surround. The tools and jack have also been restored.
The bumpers, grill surround and chrome trim have been replaced or refurbished to factory standards. Every worn component was replaced including speedometer, worm gear and drive, timing gears, belts, water pump, clutch, pressure plate and fuel injectors. This car was original to VA and subsequently brought back from Colorado in 2018.
This Restoration included new paint, new chrome surround for both front and rear windshields and windows, updating and refurbishing of all trim and stainless brightwork, all new gaskets and door and body seals. The car received a much-improved electronic ignition to replace the original Bosch (no more points). You would be hard pressed to find a more detailed original engine compartment or interior as attention was given to all components. The front suspension was totally rebuilt with new components including much improved neoprene bushings with new Bilstein shocks on all four corners. The rotors have been turned and received a new set of brake pads. To improve the ride, (5) Panasport Z-Light Aluminum wheels that have been matched with new Continental 185x65 R15 radial tires. Included with the car are (5) of the original “cloverleaf” steel wheels with trim rings.
It would be hard to find a better 1970 P1800E at any price.
