I signed the lease for one of the rooms in a 2-BR apt and gave my preferences to the GrandMarc leasing office. The problem is that they haven't been able to find someone from the non-undergrad category. Besides, I really want my future roommate to be well-conversant in English. I'm looking for a responsible, sociable, and somewhat clean roommate who is not only looking for a roommate but a good friend to rely on in his/her personal life for the one full year!

These apartments are very nice. They're elegantly furnished, the complex has a large swimming pool, a small gym that works, a media center to host a group of 48 people to watch movies in a small theatrical environment, pool table, and many other things. The best feature of this apartment complex is that it's right on the Corner where most of the UVA bars are (so no issues with drinking and driving), the UTS and CTS bus stops are just 4 minutes walk from the complex and buses are pretty reliable. There are parking spots available at the complex for just $75; internet and utils are included (it's a rip-off, no parking spots are this cheap on the corner!). Since all the hallways are centrally airconditioned, these apartments are rarely hot or rarely too cold. So there is this savings on electricity too.

I have a lovely 3-story, 200 year old townhouse 1 block off the downtown mall (super convenient to everything). I am looking for one person as soon as August 1st for a one year lease. The room available is good sized and has a working fireplace, it also has a smaller room off of it (en-suite style) that is large enough to fit a double bed in or to use as a little office etc.

About the house:

If you like old homes with lots of character you will love this place. There are hardwood floors throughout, a shared living room with a working fireplace, a sunroom/kitchenette area with floor to ceiling windows & french doors that open looking out onto the private back yard. There is a large covered porch in back which is great for grilling or just hanging out on. The kitchen is smallish but has a gas stove and another smaller porch leading off it to the front of the house. The bathroom isn't great, it's old and needs renovation soon - and only has a shower (if you like baths this is not the house for you). We share the one bathroom with 3 people but haven't found that to be a problem as I'm not there often and neither is my other roommate. If you have furniture, wonderful, we can accommodate that - otherwise I will be purchasing a few pieces and taking some stuff out of storage.

About us:

2 girls in our mid-twenties. I work as a marketing director here in town and my roommate is in the restaurant business and finishing up her degree at UVa - so I'm rarely home during the day and she's rarely home in the evening. I have a very well behaved 7 year old labrador who gets along with all other dogs, and I would be open to having another well behaved dog in the house. We are fairly healthy, no smoking. But we do like to drink on occasion, have people over, and be social.

What I would like to find is someone else who is looking to create a nice "home" and not just a house that you park your stuff in. We are fun and laidback and I'd like another roommate of the same mindset - someone reliable and responsible but who likes to hang out and is friendly. I like to cook so if you do too that's a bonus. Preferably you're neat and not adverse to doing your share of housework, if not then we'd like a person who would be willing to split a maid fee every two weeks as I don't want to get stuck doing it all myself. We both garden a little and if you have a green thumb there is a very nice little backyard that could always use another pair of hands.

The room is $550 plus utilities, if you have a dog there is an additional dog fee a month (and if you don't like to clean then please factor in another $30-50/month for your share of a maid)
We do have internet but do not have cable so if that is something you want you will probably be paying for it on your own as neither of us watch much TV.

I love the place and hate to leave it. Its animal friendly (i have a dog and a cat) so if you're a pet owner, its ok. The reason i'm trying to move is because i need to be closer to my boyfriend who lives on a military base in NC. Its a 6 hour commute one way to see each-other so its difficult to find the time. I miss him, and i'm trying to move ASAP. However, can't until i cover my room.
As far as roommates, there's only one. She's a 23 year old student at PVCC. She's quiet but doesn't mind drinking and being social, although isn't home that often. My room also has a key door knob for extra security if that's something you're concerned with.
My room goes for 415. if you'd like, you could rent the other room as well (for a study or whatever). Both are located at the end of the house just off the living room which isn't in use, and a bathroom (which only i currently use) . That bathroom also has a door that connects directly to my bedroom.
