I have a beautiful 3-year-old, marbled grey & white, glowing green-eyed, dilute Tortoise Shell/Calico female cat, named Drexiss!

-- She's very friendly, VERY affectionate, a little timid at first...but she loves to attach to a loving owner! She has never, ever had aggression problems. And she's so easy to take care of!

She is definitely an indoor cat. It'd be very good for her to go out every so often, but she has always been comfortable indoors. She has the typical cat reputation of being very independent. She likes a little space away from other animals and people, but she gets along fine with both when in the same room. Once she gets to know you, she's very pleasing to be around. Drexiss has amazingly springy legs and can leap up quite high, or "gallop" like a little horse. She is very healthy and fit for an indoor cat.

I have some toys, 4 little outfits, some food, and a cat little box. All free if you want to adopt her! I can even help with her expenses (food, littler, vet check-ups) the first few months! I just want her to find a good home!!

I have a great cat named Candy who needs a good home. She is a loaner (as most cats are), doesn't destroy furniture, and would be best suited where she is the only cat - she's protective of her mommy or daddy. She will tolerate a dog if the dog isn't agressive. Candy would do well in a home with one owner she can love. With money tight and having to downscale my living arrangements, I just moved into a 750 sq ft condo with 2 dogs and 2 cats and she isn't doing well - she's scared all the time. I love her dearly but she needs a better home than I can give her. If you would like some company and want a low maintenance kitty, she would be the one for you. Pebbles is a 7 month old Lab/ACD/BC mix. She is medium size (knee high) about 30 pounds with long legs. White with small black spots over body, face legs and tail -- Black Nose, Black Ears and large Black spot at base of tail. She is friendly but somewhat shy to strangers. Pebbles may or may not respond to her name. She slipped her collar when being taken out to potty at Lexington, VA, I-81 Exit 195 at the Exxon. She was last seen running due east through woods toward I-81 and is believed to have crossed I-81 successfully and kept heading east toward Timber Ridge, VA.

Pebbles was on her way back home to the rescue who adopted her out to a home who did not work out. Sighting Dec 18th at 1pm at underpass near where she was lost. The volunteer called her name and she ran. She stepped directly out in front of his car on the under pass!

I'm a shetland sheepdog, retriever mix who loves to go for romps around the neighborhood. I'd make a great running companion if that's your thing. I also LOVE other dogs. My best friend is a beagle/jack russell mix. We run around together and share toys and lay in the sun. We chill out in the evenings and lay near the fireplace. I'd really like to live in a home with a fenced backyard where someone will play fetch with me. I'm happy-go-lucky and haven't met a human yet that doesn't LOVE me. My foster mother took me to beginning and intermediate training classes and I'm pretty good with sitting and touching and staying and playing games. She says I'm pretty smart. I am really hoping someone has a heart for Christmas and helps this sweet boy out. In July I had to surrender my 7 year old male fixed cat Ramsey to the pound, He is very allergic to dogs and we have dogs. We got him as a stray when he was two years old and thought he just had fleas. We then took him to vets who said he had allergies. We then took him downtown to the Animal Dermatology center where he was allergy tested and the poor boy is allergic to ALOT of things. We even put him on a million different drugs, shots, you name it but it boiled down to him needing to be indoor only (we have a doggy door that he quickly discovered) and not being around any dogs. He loved our dogs soo much he would sleep with them in their crates. Sadly he had scratched most of his fur off and was bleeding alot so as much as it hurt I took him there hoping someone would give him a better home than ours. Lucky for us the Chesterfield Humane Society decided to take him on when I had no luck with other recues. The bad part is he's an adult at age 7 and HAS HAS HAS to go to a home that is dog free and he would be indoor only and he will wine to go outside but you have to be strong and not let him (He's allergic to pollen, grass, and alot of trees and weeds) He is a great cat, follows you everywhere and wants to be in your lap. He got along with female cats while we had him, not sure about males. He is currently in the bottom cage in the Chesterfield Humane Cat Room. He is not listed on their website so if your interested in seeing him you have to ask for the CHH cats siamese named Ramsey. He is a blue point siamese and my vet thinks he is purebred just inbred...lol... He's too good of a cat to be punished because we couldnt give him a good environment. He does NOT require meds if you follow those two requirements. There is a fee to adopt him as it is what ever CHH charges. I can't stand another visit to him, he is not happy right now. Please give him a wonderful Christmas gift and adopt him!

Luke is a black 7 year old German Shepherd/ Collie mix. He is very regal looking. He weighed 68.8 pounds at his first vet visit after he was pulled from the kill shelter. He should in fact weigh close to 100 pounds. He is underweight due to the fact he was infested with every worm you could think of. We have treated him with prescribed worm meds and we are throwing the groceries to him as we speak.

Luke lived his whole life with his owner. After 7 years of living with her she dumped him in the kill shelter. My friend who was responsible for pulling him from the shelter said we could not leave him behind, I agreed 100%. Luke would have had a definate death sentence in that shelter as the older dogs never get adopted. Luke is well mannered for a dog who spent his whole life penned up in a kennel in his owners back yard. He LOVES LOVES to ride. He will beat you to the vehicle to hop in if he thinks you are going some where LOL.

Luke hates cats so he needs to go to a home with no cats.

Luke has lived outside his whole life, but I am guessing he would come inside with his human if they would let him. He is very affectionate and shows his gratitude at any given chance.

Luke has hardly no teeth, they have been worn down. We feed him a mixture of high qauilty canned food with his kibble and he eats that very well with no issues.

Luke PULLS like a mule on the leash. That is no lie. He will need some help with that. I am going to try a gentle leader on him that may help the issue some. He is almost too much for me to handle on the leash.

Luke's ideal home would be one where he can run free such as on a farm. He would be very happy and content laying around on the porch. We let him ramble at our farm all the time and he does well. He has a good recall, and not only that he is very devoted to his human. He is a velcro dog.

Luke is neutered, current on all shots, hw negative and on prevention (Advantage Multi) and he is flea free. His adoption fee is $100.00. His fee is reduced to $65 and that is not reflected on his listing on my site. You must submit the pre screen application found on the Our Animals For Adoption page at http://www.ourcritters.net ! Homer's birthdate is 5-22-08. He is a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier. He weighs about 60 pounds. He is a sweet heart of a dog. He loves people and he has never met a stranger. He is good with kids. He does not pull on the leash. He leads quietly. He is crate trained. He does not jump up on you. He is a calm personable dog. We have already taught him some commands. He know sit, stay and come. We will continue to school him while he is here with us. He does well with other dogs, but I would ask that he go to a home where he would be the only dog or a home with a large breed older submissive dog. He nor any Pit will normally fair well with small breed dogs, as they look too much like prey to them. Homer chases cats as well. Homer loves riding in the car and being near his human.

Homer's ideal home would be one where his owner would take the time to house train him. He is not destructive, he just needs to learn to go out side to potty. He actually is really calm. He is allowed to roam the house at the new farm at times and he does really well. He is normally crated at night at our old place because of the cats and the smaller dogs. He is crate trained and he would not be hard to potty train in the least. I would love for him to go to a inside home or a home where he is inside part of the time. Pit's thrive on human contact. He would be a great jogging buddy or hiking buddy. A fenced yard would be a plus as well. He would be able to exercise himself if there was a fenced area for him. Homer would make someone a nice companion. Homer is very devoted and a velcro dog. He will never leave your side if you do not want him to. I have 2 red-ear slider turtles that need a new home. I've had them for almost 5 years now and they are very fun and active, but I can't take them with me when I move. Both are females, one is approximately 10 in. the other is 12 in. I have all the equipment need to set them up in your home including: 30 gallon tank with wire lid, heat lamp with ceramic bulb, UV light (although it needs a new bulb at the moment), water filter with new filters, water heater, tank cleaning snake, and pellet food. The set up cost me about $200, but I'm looking for $70. Also willing to sell any of the equipment separately. These are pretty fun pets and I've enjoyed having them. I am trying to find good homes for four kitties I found back in September. I have no idea how old they are but I know they are still kittens. I love them but I cannot keep them :( They have spent the last three months living with three dogs and two children so they get along great with both. They have been litter trained and have also had their first round of vaccinations and flea treatment. I would post pictures but my camera is currently not working. Pebbles may or may not respond to her name. She slipped her collar when being taken out to potty at Lexington, VA, I-81 Exit 197 at the Exxon. She was last seen running due east through woods toward I-81 and is believed to have crossed I-81 successfully and kept heading east toward Timber Ridge, VA. Pebbles was on her way back home to the rescue who adopted her out to a home who did not work out. Two loving tabby kittens are in desperate need of a foster or adoptive home. These two wandered onto their foster mom's property as very young kittens. She has kept them safe and tried to find a good home for them with no luck. She is very allergic to cats and has been keeping them on an enclosed porch which was badly damaged in a storm. The porch will be repaired starting next week and the cats will have nowhere to go.
The only option is the local high-kill shelter.
Foster mom loves the kittens and is frantic to keep them out of the shelter. Can you help by fostering or adopting these two? Even a short-term foster situation would help save their lives. They are vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Their foster mom reports that they are extremely affectionate and playful.

I was amazed to learn how many people in the Charlottesville and surrounding areas are filing claims w/their insurance companies for coyote attacks. Coyotes are killing domestic dogs and cats as well as livestock. Take time to research about southeastern coyotes to ensure you're not inviting them to your backyard (leaving out birdseed, pet food, open trash cans etc) and keep an eye out for your furry friends. After an attack on a neighbors calf, I did a little research and some estimate there being 100,000 coyotes in Virginia...they are finding dens in abandoned homes and coyotes have even taken up housekeeping in Rock Creek Park in DC.

I don't know for sure what this boy dealt with prior to being rescued, but it must have been terrible. His body and face are covered in scars, the tip of one ear is missing, and the tip of his tail is twice broken. Regardless of his past, Jackson is easily the most affectionate dachshund I've had the pleasure of fostering! He gets along great with the dogs and will bond very closely to his human. He follows me all over the house and sleeps with me under the covers at night. When we go out for walks or to petsmart he gets tons of compliments on his color and his calm, laid back personality. Because of Jackson's limited vision he doesn't deal well with change. He is also very scared of fast moving children and should not be exposed to them. I do put Jackson in a large crate with another calm dog while I'm out simply because he will look for me constantly and bark at the front door until I return. When left in the crate he will go straight to his bed and curl up to go to sleep. When we're all lounging in the afternoon he will corral all of the toys and nylabones on the big dog bed. After chewing on his current favorite, he'll jump on the couch and curl up as close to me as he can get!
