Invitational Monthly Jam of the C-ville Musicians’ Exchange (Charlottesville, Va.)

THIS MONTHLY JAM of the C-ville Musicians’ Exchange had been a completely open jam for its first 24 months, but became an invitational jam in August. So, if you are a reasonably competent player on your instrument, would like to meet some of the local musicians in our area and jam on Chicago Blues, Classic Rock of the ’60s and ’70s, and a bit of Country contact me at the e-dress below.

WHEN AND WHERE: We get together from 3 to 6 p.m., one Sunday a month, in a rehearsal space at the corner of Meade Avenue and Market Street. Take East Market Street to Meade Avenue. At the light at the corner is the old National Linen Company building on the Southeast corner to the right. Turn right onto Meade and then take a quick jog to the left into the building’s parking lot. The space is over to the left as you come in and is marked 1304-B on the door (but beware that the number is sometimes covered with concert flyers). You can pull up to the loading dock to unload your gear or continue on to the right to park in the back. Some parking is available across from the door.

BRING whatever you need to jam (amps, instruments, microphones, sheet music) and a few bucks to chip in for the cost of the rehearsal hall. The space comes with a PA.

GIVE A HEADS UP if you’re coming by sending me an e-mail message or call so that we’ll know how many people to expect, and let us know what instrument you play so we’ll have some idea of what combination of instruments we’ll have to work with.

IF YOU’D LIKE TO JOIN US CONTACT Aaron Feldman at aarfeld58@gmail.com.

Announcing the arrival of the Charlottesville Rock Academy.

The CRA is a new music education program brought to you by The Sound (http://www.thesoundstudios.net). It is open to all musicians, young and old and offers a professional learning environment complete with large stage, PA, lights, drums and amplifiers in our Live Room. The CRA is the most fun you can have while learning to be a better musician.

CRA is an ensemble-based program that focuses on the fundamentals of playing with other musicians, making efficient use of rehearsal time, and the art of recording an album. Bands meet once a week for 2 months to hone their skills. The CRA will match you with other local players of similar musical ability and interest and just like that, you’re in a band. The curriculum will take you through 5 weeks of rehearsal with your band mates, 2 weeks of recording your own demo cd, and culminates on the 8th week with your CD Release Concert, where your friends and family can come check out your band live on stage. Whether you are an up and coming player looking for your first band, a seasoned musician without time for a full time band commitment, or you just want to polish your chops with some great musicians, teachers, and friends, you should call the Charlottesville Rock Academy.

I have a gig at Blue Mt. Brewery Friday and I've just been informed I can only play original music or traditionals. i'm probably going to do 2 sets of original music and one set of traditionals. I would love to find someone who would want to sit in on fiddle, mando dobro or banjo for that set. I'm sure they'd give you free beer and maybe a meal. I can't afford to pay though as I will be on tour from Boston. Check out original material at paulcataldo.com Thanks

Looking for singer/dancer/performer who can sing in all genres and also rap
a little bit.
I wrote an entire album plus, with a Pop Diva in mind. You have 25 songs to pick from.
R&B, Pop, Rock, Ballad. The songs are raunchy, risqué, social, sassy, attitude and a couple of political numbers.
You choose what you will and will not sing for the image you want to present.

I’m having a hard time getting people to understand that this is a business proposition—not anything else. If I ask can you dance, I’m talking about the funky chicken, the electric slide or the boogaloo, not anything else. I don’t want to AIM a while before we meet and see if you can sing the songs. If I compliment you on your looks it’s because I thought that’s what is expected when a female shows you her pic.
I’m about business—going for the gold-- trying to get a singer and a co-producer for what I think will be a big selling album. But no matter how much I say that, I can’t seem to get through. I wrote this album to sell records. And today it seems the Caucasian females are owning the top of the charts. I’m very open to AA females singers too who can sing Pop and Rock.
If you are interested, send me anything with you singing and I’ll send you some lyrics to help you make up your mind.
Also, have a computer and a microphone please. I can produce a song demo(yes on the computer)—at least well enough for you to hear the potential-- in a day or two.
I prefer some one who wants a recording career, because we might be able to sell the album ourselves, but if you just want to demo the songs for pitching to labels, I’m open to that.
Everything in writing and a fair percentage to all involved.
One more thing: if you email me; I email you back. You wait one, two and three days to email again, superman couldn’t make me fool with ya again.

Bassist and Drummer. Were looking for a Accomplished Guitarist, that wants to go where no guitarist has gone in this area. Steve Morse/Steve Vai/Hendrix/Satriani/Iron Maiden/Metallica/Jaco/Beck/Rush/Zappa/Steely Dan/Dream Theater just to name a few kinds of styles we play. Anything thats harder, and musically challenging. We dont wanna waste a bunch of time. We offer, pro attitude, equipment, safe practice space, and just the desire to do something out of the ordinary. We are both coming into the last chance part of playing music, and we want to leave a mark on the wall. We want to play a harder edged style of music, that takes talent and practice to achieve. But not be stuck in a practice room for the next year. We all learn our parts, and put them together. We dont want to get into the Charlotteville Blues/experimental noise scene. This would be a structured musical venture. with a set list and a goal of having fun and being serious.
If you think you fit this description, no matter what age, gender, race, or even if you just want to try, and you have all the desire and talent to do it, first, we want a demo package, that includes a recording of you playing, a picture, and some musical accomplishments you have done. This seems to cut the time and saves bad feelings.

Hello everyone,

Here is additional information. Please note the band schedule is very tentative (most of the bands have not even seen it yet) But wanted to give everyone some idea of what was going to happen.

For those of you that have not heard our friend & musical brother Johnny Gilmore passed away last night in a fire. The tragedy leaves his father both without a place to live and all of his possessions destroyed. The community is rising up to help his father and remember Johnny with a musical gathering and fundraiser this Sunday night at Fry’s Spring beach Club.

The Johnny Gilmore Memorial Fund has been established. You can contribute via Paypal using this email address for further information. johnnygilmore1@hotmail.com

This is being done obviously very quickly but currently the details are as follows:

Date: Sunday October 25

I love to sing and have been singing for an incredibly long time, since I can remember, actually. I'm looking for an established band, maybe one that already has playing paying shows, maybe that aren't happy or satisfied with their current singer, lead vocalist. I can sing a lot of different genres but I'm looking for a somewhat specific sound. (As shown above).Feel free to respond if your interested I have a couple random samples of me singing, and YouTube videos that are unedited, and not auto tuned, with no microphone recording tricks. I am a professional, I've been in bands before and was a lead vocalist. I like originals, covers, practically anything if the personalities associated with such mesh well. I'm more than happy to "audition" for a lead vocalist part if need be, but you will be able to tell in the first 30 seconds as to whether or not you would want me leading your band/group. I enjoy jumping around, acting goofy, hanging from rafters, jumping off walls, and screaming and singing my heart out.

I know this doesn't belong here, but the Musician postings are slim and someone did post this about Robert Cray. So I thought I would comment.

I use to be a huge Robert Cray Fan, But the last three times I saw him I was totally disapointed. About 10 years ago he started reflecting about the political environment during his concerts and this just drives me mad!! Why do artists do this?? Why do we care what a blues artist thinks about politics?? U2 is famous for it, along with others. So about 10 years ago I stopped going to see Cray becasue of this and I hear he still does this in his show. Does anyone else feel the same??

Also after his first two CDS and probably Strong Persuader, His music has gone down hill for me. Less Blues and more Pop, which I consider a Sell out. Bad influences and False Accusations where incredible Blues CDs. The CD, Showdown that he did with Copeland and Collins was great also... Strong Persuader was great, but more Poppy.. then "I" think, his music went down hill.

Thanks for listenning...

completed album 4 sale, local hip hop artist (locust grove)

I'm a local DJ that has been working hard and steady on my demo album project in the hip hop genre and to my relief it is finally complete the way I wanted it. I have done the whole project alone for the most part, although, one of my DJ's did help contribute on a few beats, other than that I wrote, produced, and recorded the whole thing. The beats were made with studio software all digital loops and recorded with my DJ equipment. This was not a professional recording studio production with digital master and or auto tune, although, you the consumer would be impressed with the quality turnout considering the equipment I used. This project was a demo album to attempt to gain some fans and get heard locally. This album titled Lyrically Inclined has a few real tracks that go fairly deep to touch base with reality and the rest of the album is full of club tracks that deliver feel good lyrics. The whole album is me straight up being me in my attempt to start a music career other than being a professional DJ. This is more than an occupation its a love and a way to express my creativity and lyrical skill.

If you are a hip hop fan and want to support a local artist on his attempt to make something out of scratch. For these folks the album Lyrically Inclined by the artist DJ B which consists of 11 tracks is in unit form and available for purchase to you the consumer for the price of $5.00. Please contact me for details on the purchase of this album. All proceeds will be used to continue on to my second release which hope to be a professional studio production.

So with that said contact me and pick up your copy and check out my work. Then shoot me an email with your thoughts, views, and feedback on my album. I love to hear from fans and there feedback is a major deal that results on the productivity of my work.

At this time I would like to send out a big thanks to all the fans that have already purchased my album and emailed there feedback. The fans make the artist and the feedback is important thank you all for the great album reviews.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ok now that half is out of the way, Lyrically Inclined was my debut album and was a strong one with nice tracks and catchy beats to display my lyrical disposition. Now you have to know me my album was hot, but I always like to out do myself so I want my next one to be hotter than hot and in the world of hip hop colaboration is key. What I'm getting at is I'm looking to form a group of 4 members or so to take over locally and put Va on the map. What I'm seeking is a male singer, a female singer, and an additional lyrical figure such as myself for a total of 4 members. You have to be able to write your own lyrics. Knowing your way around some instruments and or being slick with digital programs is a plus. I'm very dedicated and want to persue a career in music and looking to form a group that wants the same. We will work as a team to deliver excellent product no matter how hard we have to work. My goal is success and we can make history in the near future, this is an oppurtunity I want to attempt to take it to the top. I'm ready to make hits when you are. Please email me asap. Also, keep in mind greed isn't an issue all money necessary will have to be equally put up by each member for necessary materials and production costs and all profit/proceeds will be equally divided with our team. I'm not trying to get over on anyone I'm 100% legit and honest I'm just looking to chase my dream and looking for 3 artists that share the same dream.

Contact me for purchase weather you are a artist wanting to work with me or a local fan trying to support a local artist and get some new tracks to ride to or if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to shoot an email.

Pick up my album for the $5.00 and critique it. If you like what you hear and you want to be in this mission with me and a few others then have some samples of your talents ready and we can go from there.

Thanks for your time and God Bless,
